Clive Learning Academy issued the following announcement on Feb. 10
Two Valley High School students part of the school’s Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates (iJAG) program participated in Legislative Day on Monday, Feb. 10, at the Iowa State Capitol
Junior Josh Alles, senior Sydney Mixon, and Valley iJAG Education Specialist Katie Allison connected with state legislators throughout the day, sharing their own personal stories and seeking continued support of iJAG. Dozens of other Iowa school districts were represented Monday at the Capitol.
Alles and Mixon both spoke with State Senators Claire Celsi and Charles Schneider. Alles also had the opportunity to join a small group that met with Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg.
Additionally, the pair of Valley learners led the Pledge of Allegiance to kick off Monday’s legislative session.
iJAG is a nonprofit organization, supported by corporate and foundation contributions, public sector grants, and participating school funds. iJAG creates business, industry, and education partnerships that are committed to achieving the mission of iJAG — to assist students with multiple barriers in graduating from high school and and/or successfully transitioning from high school to continued education and careers.
Around 50 Valley junior and seniors are part of the high school’s iJAG program.
