Clive Learning Academy issued the following announcement on Sept. 27.
Crestview School of Inquiry students this past week welcomed their family members for the third annual “Take Your Parent to P.E. Week,” a weeklong campaign organized by Active Schools.
Chris Amundson, physical education teacher at Crestview, said this event means a lot to Crestview students and families. The purpose of the initiative is to introduce families to their student’s P.E. program, and encourages them to become engaged throughout the year while being physically active together at home and in the community.
A total of 114 family members attended throughout the week, Amundson added.
“Not only do the kids get to show their families what they are doing in physical education, but they are getting to exercise side by side with their parents,” he said. “Community wellness is a huge part of what I teach, and I hope this helps motivate some of our families to get active together. My favorite part of this week is seeing the kids and parents smile and sweat together.”
