Wyatt Custer, 95, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Brooks south Town Funeral Chapel at 7601 Fluer Drive, Des Moines. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 also at the funeral Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House. Wyatt Lee Custer was born on January 27, 1924, in Des Moines, Iowa; he was the son of Lee and Opal(Morgan) Custer. He attended school at Lincoln High School in Des Moines. Wyatt served his country honorably in the United States Army/ Airforce from 1943 until 1945 and was part of the 451Bomb Squad. On April 18, 1942, Wyatt was united in marriage to the love of his life Doris Campbell and they were soul mates for 77, years. Wyatt worked for the City of Des Moines as a Heavy Equipment Operator and retired after 30, years of faithful service in 1985. He had been a member of the VFW and American Legion. His life revolved around his family and always loved spending time with them.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 77, years, Doris, and children, Wyetta ( Harold” Butch”) Hammer , and Della (Don) McConkey, grandchildren, Eric ( Seeta), Christy (Ed), Dorie, Amy,(Danny), great-grandchildren, Zachary, Savannah, Emily, Christopher and Shiva Rose, great-great-grandchild, Jaden, also survived by many nieces, nephews and beloved other family members.
In death Wyatt rejoins his son, Ernie Custer and 1, brother and 3, sisters.
