New training opportunities for Clive residents, annual service awards to city employees and new capital projects were all discussed in Clive Mayor Scott Cirksena’s column in the city's February newsletter.
Training initiatives, offered through the Clive Public Library, include classes on money management and using Apple computers, phones and tablets.
The financial class, taught by certified financial planner Linda Jacobs, will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, from 6 to 7 p.m. To learn about Apple technology, residents can reserve 30-minute sessions of individualized help on Feb. 10 and Feb. 20 between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.
At the January Clive employee appreciation breakfast, the mayor said he was “proud” of all city workers, but singled out Detective Bob Somsky, Sergeant Rich Stoen and Lieutenant John Broderson for their 30 years with the Clive Police Department.
Closing his message, the mayor mentioned $61 million in “infrastructure investment projects” recently approved by the city council. They include $6.7 million for transportation, $2.1 million for public safety and $1.2 million for park facilities.
