Buying a home can be stressful but a realtor like Ingrid Williams in Clive can make that process a little easier.
Williams, a former nurse, has been in real estate full-time for a decade and knows her way around selling property in the Des Moines area.
“Just like in nursing, in real estate, you’re also taking care of people,” Williams told Clive News. “Paying attention to the details and just making sure that things go as smooth as possible.”
The realtor watched her grandparents operate a few rental homes while growing up and learned a great deal from them. She also owned a few rental properties and flipped a couple homes with her husband before fully diving into the real estate business.
“There are always challenges in real estate,” she said. “Every day is an adventure.”
One of the biggest challenges Williams had to face in the business is having to see someone sell their home because they have fallen ill with ALS. The process of listing their home and connecting them with resources for assisted living was a very sad situation.
“There’s always people facing difficulties,” Williams said. “I’ve dealt with people who are going through a divorce or who had to go because they’ve lost their jobs. People face all kinds of challenges and sometimes that causes them to move."
There are also happy situations, like moving to a different state because of a new job offer. Or a family who needs a bigger house because they’ve had children or the wealthy couple searching for a vacation home.
“So moving is sometimes the happiest times in life, and sometimes the saddest,” Williams said.
