Cryotherapy, the use of extreme cold for the treatment of various ailments, may sound like a complicated process. But the staff at Catalyst Cryotherapy, a new company in Clive, is ready to demystify this practice to help restore balance to your life.
"We specialize in cryotherapy, which is a healing therapy that has been around for quite a while," Thomas Whitson of Catalyst told Clive News. "It's most well-documented, modern success began in the 1970s in Japan as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. Cryotherapy started gaining traction in the United States in 2008 -- so it's relatively new here. We opened on March 19, 2018."
The staff is looking forward to using their knowledge to help improve the lives of those in the area.
"The cryotherapy scene in Des Moines is growing, but still not as prevalent as other metropolitan areas its size," Whitson said. "Although there aren't a lot of other cryotherapy businesses yet, the ones Des Moines does have are really great. We are big believers in the benefits of cryotherapy and encourage our family and friends to use it, as well. That may not be a huge differentiation, but it's why we wanted to create a space where we could share that with the community."
The team at Catalyst is excited to be a part of the community and have the skills and technology needed to help give their clients real results.
"We're passionate about providing healing solutions that people can use to feel better and enjoy the things they love," Whitson said. "One unique differentiation is that our cryotherapy machine was designed and manufactured in the United States. It was made in St. Louis by Impact Cryotherapy, which is headquartered in Atlanta."
While they are just recently part of the community, the company is excited about the potential for involvement in the coming years.
"Being open for right around two weeks now, we're really quite new to the community of Clive," Whitson said. "[We are] looking forward to getting settled in."
